Creative Manager- EBM
For several years I worked as the the Creative Manager for English Building Market, the most expansive vintage and curios shop in New Haven.
With thousands of square feet of space, every inch is filled with mid century modern furniture, quirky glassware, and vintage art. The latter half of the store is dedicated to vintage clothing, with a private, special collection of antique garments.
Working closely with the owner, I managed sales and sourcing, marketing, creative direction, and inventory. I established the current pricing system and worked extensively with the POSIM program (Point of Sale Inventory Management).
The creative responsibilities included the construction and composition of rotating window vignettes, all events planning, and management of social media and online sales platforms.
My most treasured experience was the arrival of several boxes of nearly undamaged Edwardian and 1920’s day dresses. This lead to my launch of the special collection, where I worked on the further curation and repair of antique pieces.
“There is no better way to learn caution, care, and attention to detail than the hand repairs and laundering needed on 100 year old silk and linen.”
It was a pleasure to handle pieces dating back as far as the 1880’s, with my favorite pieces being a bias cut 1930’s wedding gown, and a poet’s jacket (a men’s evening coat with a hidden pocket in the tail to slip secret messages and love notes). I worked with high-profile clients and collectors, and expanded our network to specialized vendors and partners.
While at EBM, I also organized events and secured booths in desirable markets to further expand our audience. This involved additional outreach and collaboration with influencers from within the city and beyond.
